The Printmaking Process
Share
Behind every Pixel Paws portrait is a production process designed to turn digital art into heirloom‑quality prints. At P7 Studios, we treat each piece like it’s going to hang in a gallery—because in many ways, it will: on the walls of homes where pets are family.
Step 1: Preparing the Artwork
Once a portrait is approved, we prepare high‑resolution files tailored to the chosen print format—whether it’s paper, framed, or metal. Each file is checked for color accuracy and sharpness.
Step 2: Calibrated Printing
We use professional printers paired with pigment inks, ensuring long‑lasting vibrancy. Every printer is color‑calibrated using hardware tools so the final result matches the artwork with precision.
Step 3: Substrates & Papers
-
Fine‑art paper: Museum‑grade stock with a beautiful texture and archival rating.
-
Metal prints: Aluminum panels sublimated with heat and pressure for a vivid, durable finish.
-
Framed pieces: Printed on archival paper, then matted and sealed using acid‑free materials. We use a clean, composite black frame by default—kept intentionally simple so it complements many decorative styles. For customers who prefer a different look, our frames are designed with flexibility in mind: the mat and artwork are secured together as a single piece, making it easy to transfer into any standard frame size we offer without risk to the print.
Step 4: Archival Finishing
We assemble with the same standards used in museums and galleries: acid‑free tape, UV‑protective glass when applicable, and careful mounting that avoids long‑term damage.
Step 5: Quality Control
Every piece is inspected by hand for clarity, color accuracy, and finish. If something doesn’t meet our standard, it doesn’t leave the studio.
